Minutes of The Royal Green Jackets Association Meeting
Held at Slade Park Barracks, Oxford on Wednesday 30 May 2007

1.The Chairman welcomed everyone present and said an apology had been received from Major P Proctor. He stated that The Rifles' were going exceedingly well with the serving elements of the Battalions grasping the new Regimental ethos, uniform etc. Currently each Battalion very much reflected the origin from which they came but in time this will change to form a more universal identity across the whole Regiment, with Regimental property to be moved around and shared between Battalions. Operationally things were going well.
2. Minutes of the previous meetings were approved, proposed by Major Stanger and seconded by Mr Fairclough
3. The Accounts for the year 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2006 were agreed and unanimously accepted

6. The Reunion 14 July 2007 Winchester.
Major Stanger reported plans were well in hand. The Re-enactment people would be there again. Gates open 1400. The Restaurant would be run by ATR. Ron Frampton would, again, be running the Bar
7. Branch Reports
Bands and Bugles
Had 232 members with the annual reunion at Winchester.
Winchester and District
55 paid up members hold various functions during the year; 2 quiz nights, a skittles night, a games night and a shooting competition against the ATR Sgts Mess.
Yorkshire Branch
Meet 4th Thursday of the month. 29 RGJ members, 23 Hon members and 10 Associate members. Had a trip to the Kohima celebrations in York and visit the Catterick POPs.
Suffolk
Meet 1st Friday of the month at RBL. 92 paid up members. Held a Ladies Dinner Night with 170 attending. Laid a wreath at Menin Gate and at Regents Park. Attend the Remembrance Service in Felixstowe.
London
140 paid up members with 3 or 4 very helpful sponsors. Hold 2 Golf competitions and a Clay Pidgeon Shoot. Hold a visit to the Calais Memorial, have a veterans London lunch and a well attended Ladies Dinner Night.
North West
55 paid up members. Hold an annual dinner - next one on 24 Nov 2007 at Altcar Trg Camp. They are involved with the local 'Rifles' ACF Cadets.
Shrewsbury
19 members meet up approx once per month. Send a group to the Winchester Reunion. Had over 25 at Christmas Dinner. Members currently attend at the National Aboretum. They are in consultation with The Rifles' in Shrewsbury.
Wiltshire
37 paid up members meet every other month. Hold a Valentine Dinner, a St Georges Day Dinner, a summer BBQ and an Indian Restaurant night.
Midlands
21 members on mailing list. Trying to start up a curry night
Oxford
Over 200 members including old Ox and Bucks members. Full programme of events. Valentines Day, Easter, Band concert, Ladies Dinner Night, Halloween, etc.
8.The Future.
The Chairman stated that Major General Balfour was the President of the RGJ Regimental Association Executive Committee which will run all matters RGJ, The Reunion, RGJ direct, Officer Club activities and liaise with the Museum.
9. Major Cassidy briefed the meeting on the future funding of the RGJ Association. The details are given in the paper he presented attached at Annex A to these Minutes. The Recommendations of the paper were proposed by Mr Dixon, seconded by Captain Fritz-Domeney and agreed unanimously.
10. Colonel Smythe briefed the meeting on the new proposal for an RGJ memorial tablet at the National Arboretum. This would be passed to the Regimental Administrative Trustees for funding approval. The meeting were of the opinion that it should only have an RGJ badge on it and not the badges of the former Regiments as well.
