Aims of the Branch
The former regiments
of the Royal Green Jackets were the innovators of modern day infantry tactics
who concentrated on individual marksmanship, self discipline and a mutual
respect between all ranks. The remainder of the army has long since adopted
these principles and today the Royal Green Jackets continue to improve upon
the original concepts. This will be acrried on when our regiment forms with the Light Infantry, The Devon and Dorsets Light Infantry and the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wilstshire Light Infantry to form a new regiment to be called The Rifles in February 2007
The North West
Branch invites all ex-members of the Royal Green Jackets and its former regiments
to become a member of the North West Branch of our association. The Branch
was formed in its present state in the early 1990’s and provides regular
social evenings and events.
Whether your time
with the Royal Green Jackets was loved or hated you can't deny that you made
some good friends over the years. Our social evenings are all informal affairs
and whether a Rifleman or Officer we are all on first name terms. Our members
range from having served in the 1950's right up to the present day and come
from all areas of the North West of England.
The aim of our
branch is to:-
1. Organise social
nights throughout the year for serving and ex members of the regiment so that
they can keep in touch and meet old friends. A regular social night each year
is on the night of the Grand National.
